Nebraska State Capitol


The Nebraska State Capitol, designed by Bertram Goodhue, is something of a legend.  My wife Pamela and I just returned from Lincoln, visiting my folks.  We saw this jewel of a building, and I need to share it with the Guild.  Built between 1922 and 1932, the Capitol has more hand made artisan work than any public building east of Washington D.C.  The motifs are…

Elisabet Ney and Waller Creek


A lot of people have heard of the Elisabet Ney Museum.  If you drive down 45th Street in January, you can see the back of the museum facing Waller Creek, visible through the leafless trees.   If you haven't heard, Elisabet Ney was a sculptor of international reputation who moved to the rugged outskirts of Austin in the 1890's.  She wanted a live-work space that…
